Referral Requests

July 8, 2008

Requesting a referral is very awkward. The key is to word the request properly. And to not say the word ‘referral’ is even better!

We have many advisors who use the personal note to communicate their interest in building business through referrals.

Recently the wording of these notes has begun to read very well.

Here is an example of a very well written Referral Card:

Thank you for your trust in choosing me as your financial advisor. I appreciate the opportunity to serve you.

The economy and the stock market are clearly on peoples’ minds right now. It’s no surprise that during times of market uncertainty and volatility, some people need to adjust their investments, while others simply need the reassurance of a second opinion.

If a friend or family member expresses a financial concern to you, please have him or her give me a call.I don’t claim miracles, but one of two things will occur. Either I’ll validate that everything he or she is doing is fine and doesn’t need changing, or I’ll identify opportunities for improvement.

And because its your friend or family member, I will devote the time to answer his or her questions.

Best regards,
